History

August, 1958 Gakkou Houzin Kurume Kougyo Gakuen was accredited by the Ministry of Education.
April, 1966 Kurume Kogyo Junior College was founded.
Department of Automotive Engineering (Day course), and Department of Automotive Engineering (Night course).
April, 1973 Department of Architectural Equipment Engineering was established.
January, 1976 The college name was changed from Kurume Kougyo Gakuen to Kurume Institute of Technology.
April, 1976 The Faculty of Engineering was established.
There were three departments: the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Transport Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Architecture and Building Services Engineering.
April, 1977 Bekka or two-years vocational course was established.
April, 1978 An Automotive Mechanical Engineering Course was added to Bekka.
June, 1979 Kurume Kogyo Junior College was closed.
April, 1985 The Department of Electronics and Information Engineering was added to the Faculty of Engineering.
May, 1986 The Laboratory of Intelligence Engineering was established.
April, 1995 Graduate School of Engineering was established.
An Energy System Engineering Course, and an Electronic Information Systems Engineering Course.
April, 2001 Kurume Institute of Technology began to accept transfer students in a third-year.
March, 2002 Automotive Mechanical Engineering Course in Bekka was closed.
April, 2002 The Department of Environmental Symbiosis Engineering was established.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was renamed as the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering.
The Department of Architecture and Equipment Engineering was renamed to the Department of Architecture and Building Services Engineering.
The Department of Electronics and Information Engineering was renamed as the Department of Information and Network Engineering.
March, 2003 The Laboratory of Intelligence Engineering was closed.
April, 2005 The Course system was introduced to the undergraduate programs.
April, 2007 The Department of Education and Creation Engineering was established.
An Automotive System Engineering Course was added to the Graduate School.
Manufacturing center, or "Creation Laboratory" was established.
January, 2009 Tatsuo Ozaki was inaugurated as the President of Kurume institute of Technology.
March, 2009 The Bekka was closed.
September, 2009 Manufacturing Center was established.
March, 2014 The Department of Environmental Symbiosis Engineering was closed.
April, 2014 The Academic Information Center was established (Library and Information Center were unified).
May, 2014 The Community Collaboration Center was established (Community Collaboration Promotion Office and Manufacturing Center were unified).
April, 2015 Katsumi Imaizumi has been inaugurated as the President of Kurume Institute of Technology.
November, 2015 The Intelligent Mobility Laboratory was established.
April, 2016 The Fundamental Education Center was established.
IR Promotion Center was established.
